Gabriela Borjas Oráa is a Freelance Photojournalist with a dedicated focus on political and social events currently residing in Caracas, Venezuela. She was born in Venezuela and holds a degree in architecture studies from Mexico.

Gabriela’s journey into the world of photojournalism began in 2017. Moved by the profound events during the riots in Venezuela that year, she embarked on a mission armed with nothing but a camera and a fervent desire to illuminate the unfolding atrocities. Approaching the chaos not as a seasoned professional, but as an individual propelled by the urgency to document the harsh realities faced by the people. It was in this moment that an enduring commitment to storytelling, particularly for those stories that demand to be heard, took root within her. This experience ignited a deep-seated passion for photojournalism.

Following the conclusion of the protests, Gabriela made the decision to leave her previous occupation and delve into the study of photography. Over the subsequent years, she studied Documentary Photography, Editorial Portrait at the Roberto Mata Photography Workshop and Investigative Journalism in the Carribean Investigative Journalism Network. In 2020 she participated in the XXXIII Eddie Adams Workshop and won the Chris Hondros award.  Since 2021, she’s had the privilege of collaborating with esteemed international news agencies such as Reuters, Bloomberg News, El Pais and Getty Images.
